SHARE Cape Fear Offers Philanthropy For All

PRESS RELEASE - MARCH 21, 2020

Wilmington, NC – A partnership between Cape Fear Collective, New Hanover Disaster Coalition and United Way of the Cape Fear Area announced today the implementation of SHARE Cape Fear, a web-based tool that makes giving back to the community easy by connecting people to the greatest needs in the community.

SHARE Cape Fear is an online portal for nonprofit organizations, including faith-based groups and churches with 501(c)3 status, to build a profile, set up a wish list, and call for volunteers. Neighbors to the site are able to connect with those organizations and sign up to help either through monetary or goods donation or volunteering.

“SHARE Cape Fear offers a simple way that neighbors, nonprofits and businesses will be able to come together and support our local community. This was already in the works, we are just hitting fast-forward to make sure needs are being met during the response of COVID-19,” said New Hanover Disaster Coalition Director, Audrey Hart.

“This helps us stay connected, work together and meet the needs of our community daily, and can be used during emergencies, like this, by allowing organizations to post their immediate needs and people to donate and sign up to volunteer in one place. It takes the guesswork out of ‘who needs what, when?’ It’s all in one place. We are rolling this out together as a team because no one can do it alone,” said CEO of United Way of Cape Fear Area, Tommy Taylor.

Registration for SHARE Cape Fear is free and available to organizations with a 501(c)3 status. SHARE Cape Fear is also free for neighbors and available to them to donate and volunteer beginning today.

“Solving our community’s most complex challenges takes a systemic approach that leverages every resource in our region to maximize social impact,” said Cape Fear Collective CEO, Patrick Brien. “The SHARE Cape Fear platform provides an easy to use donor platform and volunteer portal that makes the process of community engagement seamless. It democratizes philanthropic giving for both the community member and the community organization.”
